Hey guys. :D Yesterday, I rode Blue bareback. It was so unbearably hot I couldn't stand to tack up then untack again. It was only like the 5th(?) time I'd ever ridden him bareback, and the first time he's ever had to do any real work like collection and trotting. I made shure to REALLY warm up 15 minutes walking each way with some circles and serpentine for suppleness, then we trotted some. Blue is SO FLOATY! It's very hard to stay centered, it actually kind of helps me that his withers are high, makes me really tuck and rock back on my seat bones.
After the above mentioned warm up, I started picking up contact. He responded by rocking back on his hind-end and really using it! I was impressed! Then we switched and went the the left... There is something going on, and I'm going to have a chiro out when I can afford it. It might not even be anything to do with any sore spots, he might just be being bitchy about changing directions. After all, he is only 5, and hasn't completely mastered straight lines. HAHA! But, anyways...
When I dismounted I went and brought out some makeshift jump standards (buckets) and a stick. It measured out to be about 18 inches in all I was proud to say he trusted me and followed me over them. :D Then he got lazy and descided he wasn't going to pick up his knees, but it was okay, he was a superstar the whole day.
